In 1937 the Oversize was replaced by the streamlined Senior Maxima (approx. 16 mm wide, 139 mm long).
The earlier uneven-banded Senior was discontinued and replaced with the Slender Maxima (approx. 14 mm wide, 135 mm long).
Initially these pens featured a 5 mm wide cap band engraved with raised "VACUMATIC" lettering — a rare and short-lived production. See: Vacumatic-banded models.
Within approximately ten weeks the raised-letter band was replaced by the now-classic chevron pattern.
In 1939 the Blue Diamond clip was introduced, signifying a lifetime guarantee for the original owner.

In 1941, blue was introduced as a colour option, but Slender Maximas in blue are incredibly rare and can most likely not be counted as made in standard production.
