INTRODUCTION (1937)

In 1937 the Oversize was replaced by the streamlined Senior Maxima (approx. 16 mm wide, 139 mm long).

The earlier uneven-banded Senior was discontinued and replaced with the Slender Maxima (approx. 14 mm wide, 135 mm long).

Initially these pens featured a 5 mm wide cap band engraved with raised "VACUMATIC" lettering — a rare and short-lived production. See: Vacumatic-banded models.

Within approximately ten weeks the raised-letter band was replaced by the now-classic chevron pattern.

CLIP & SECTION CHANGES

In 1939 the Blue Diamond clip was introduced, signifying a lifetime guarantee for the original owner.

From this point:

  • Sections became black
  • Clip screws became black
  • Tassie screws became black

Prior to 1939:

  • Arrow clip (non-blue diamond)
  • Striped section matching body

LATER DEVELOPMENTS

In 1941, blue was introduced as a colour option, but Slender Maximas in blue are incredibly rare and can most likely not be counted as made in standard production.

In 1942, the broad-banded Senior Maxima and Slender Maxima were discontinued.

The Senior Maxima survived in redesigned form with:

Often referred to as the Single Jewel Senior Maxima .
