Smooth Cap Band Variants

INTRODUCTION

Plain band Speedline Vacumatics feature a smooth, non-engraved cap band instead of the standard chevron pattern.

These bands may appear on both Top Line and Bottom Line models, depending on production year and market variation.

Plain bands are sometimes mistaken for worn chevron bands — careful inspection under magnification is recommended.

IDENTIFICATION FEATURES

• Smooth, unengraved cap band
• Typically 2 mm or 4 mm width depending on model
• Aluminium Speedline filler (1937–1941)
• Arrow clip (pre-1939) or Blue Diamond clip (1939 onward)

Band width and clip type help determine model category.

PRODUCTION PERIOD

Plain band Speedlines were primarily produced between 1937 and 1942.

Some examples may represent transitional or export variants.

COMMON CONFUSIONS

• Worn chevron bands mistaken for plain bands
• Post-war models with plastic fillers
• Replacement caps from later repairs
