Luxury Variants

INTRODUCTION

Imperial Speedlines, often referred to as Gold Cap models, represent the luxury end of the Vacumatic Speedline range.

These models featured:

• Gold-filled or solid gold caps
• Matching gold-filled trim
• Aluminium Speedline filler (1937–1941)

They were produced alongside Maxima and Major models, but at a significantly higher price point.

IDENTIFICATION FEATURES

• Fully metal cap (gold-filled or solid gold)
• Chevron or decorative band integrated into cap design
• Arrow clip (pre-1939) or Blue Diamond clip (1939 onward)
• Striped section (early) or black section (post-1939)

The presence of a Blue Diamond clip helps date the pen to post-1939 production.

PRODUCTION PERIOD

Imperial Speedlines were produced approximately between 1937 and 1942.

Later versions transitioned to plastic filler rods during wartime production changes.

• Gold-plated replacement caps on standard models
• Post-war models with plastic fillers
• Mixed-part “frankenpens”
